It's not often you come across a gem. Here in the UK we usually get charged a fee - a big fat extortionate fee for everything we get, buy, inherit, use, breathe (oops that's next year), drink, excrete... well you get the picture.

But yes I declare - this site, greedybastards.co.uk is absolutely FREE without any form of charge or tax whatsoever - and unlike companies there's no charge for reading it either.

There MUST be a catch.

These are allegations of course.

Comet (or 'Come it' as some say)

Here is a company that operates a price match policy against other suppliers. Unfortunately if you do not follow an exact procedure often they will tell you they are out of stock of the item (especially if they don't like the price they have to match - which is always) and they don't know when new stocks are arriving. This of course lets them off the price match policy and you generally lose out.

Here's the procedure to get a price match from Comet that they cannot rescind on....  follow it exactly or expect Comet (and many others) to walk the other way.

bulletFind the lowest price of the product you want LOCALLY.
bulletMake sure it's in stock at that company.
bulletGo to Comet and look for the SAME product in their store.
bulletDo NOT ask about a price match.
bulletAsk the sales person if the product is in stock at Comet - this is most important.
bulletIf the answer is yes then.....
bulletAsk to buy one. Do not talk about the price match yet.
bulletWhen you get to the sales counter AND the product is picked for you to buy it, then and only then....
bulletAsk about the price match - confirm that the store operates this (they all do) so there should be no problem
bulletTell them you can buy the product for £XXX.XX at the other company
bulletThey will call the other company and match the price.

If you deviate from this Comet have been known to have excuses that the product is not in stock and they don't know when it is to be restocked. A quick visit next week will see the product in stock and available - but no one knew when the product was coming in.....  draw your own conclusions.

Curry's are even worse - they say they operate a price match - but when they dislike the price they comment that it is at the managers discretion, funny how the paperwork does not say this....
